Dragons Hoard: EPIC the Musical

Welcome back everyone!

Hear now as the harmony of flute and harp echoes down long dormant hallways. Invoke the names of heroes long past. Let them once again live through our telling of their tales and succumb to the rhythm and dance through the night.

Today we discuss something:

EPIC! (The Musical)

Okay who here wasn’t a theater kid and mythology nerd growing up? Hm? Hmm? That’s righ- oh um that is actually more hands than I expected. Maybe I should have asked theater kid or mythology nerd? Uhh it’s too late now. Regardless! Epic the Musical tells the renowned tale of the silver tongued Odysseus as he struggles to make it back home to his wife and son. And guys, guys, it’s great. I am in awe of how well Jorge has told this tale through song alone. I mean, how do musicians do it? Magic, it has to be magic. Each of the vocalists completely nail the personalities of the characters. They are funny, mischievous, prideful, clever, and awe inspiring. Which is exactly what you would expect in this Epic soundtrack. I’ve also seen some great short videos of Jorge explaining decisions he made or elaborating on parts of the story that didn’t quite make it into the songs themselves.

I love seeing old stories given new life in modern media. There are countless stories that have been passed down for generations and it would be a shame for them to be forgotten now. Projects like Epic are a wonderful way to not only keep them alive but also add new flair to them. Clearly Jorge is a modern bard, a most noble title. Personally I’ve always thought it would be fun to be a bard. Telling stories with nothing but a fire and the rapt attention of the audience. Perhaps one day I’ll be that good of a storyteller. The longer it takes, the more stories I’ll have to tell. Until next time.

Onwards to adventure!
