Sitting around the fire one and all we come together. Each one of us shaped by the beauty of what we have seen and where we have come from. So where do you come from? A city ripped from another world? A flying city raised by the power of a god that circles the world? Perhaps a land of the dead ruled over by death himself? Or maybe you hail from a quiet little fishing village. You can find heroes of all these walks of life in today’s gem from my hoard:
High Rollers D&D
I’ve been watching High Rollers since just before the start of their second campaign. Was I hesitant to check it out? Was I like eh maybe this will be cool? No. Nope, not even for a second. Why you may ask? Behold! A world that was once at the center of an intergalactic conflict. A world now cut off from the stars and is now circled by sky cities. Sky. Cities. And now, now they have followed it up with a DRAGON EMPIRE! I mean come on, who can say no to more dragons? I certainly can’t. And that is only part of it!
Honestly though I just want to sit here and talk all about my favorite characters that they’ve played. And I could. None of you can stop me after all. But there’s just one problem. One teensy little issue. There are too many! That isn’t even counting the NPCs and Mark has some pretty memorable ones(Heard of the imp Bing Bong? Classis Mark character right there) Naturally we of course we have to give credit to the cast for their RP skills and how much they have grown as players over the years. I mean an easy example is just read some quotes from the Sentry or Ophelia speeches Rhiannon has given and you’ll see what I mean. They are, just wow. Then you have Trott who constantly has a clever little comment at the ready. Not to mention how perfect his timing is. And my word do I fear what happens any time Tom and Rhi get a chance to just RP off one another for a bit. Be worried (in a good way). Then there’s Kim and Katie. I absolutely adore the way they weave their cultures into their characters. Both of them are clearly so passionate and proud of where they come from. Aaahh Katie almost made me cry when Aila gave her party a custom tartan. It was SO. SWEET. Little moments like that make me want to look into my family’s own history and try and incorporate it in my characters.
My final compliment (maybe) of the day is this. At the end of the day, they always feel like they are friends having fun at the table. They tell stories that make you cheer, and cry and everything in between, but they always seem to be having a fantastic time weaving stories with one another. There’s something incredibly refreshing and cathartic about it and there are some days when it truly is what you need. Clear skies until next time everyone.
Onwards to adventure!
